DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS

The Position

The position is responsible for securing major philanthropic support for Ohio University and The Ohio University Foundation through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors specifically for corporate and foundation gifts in excess of $100,000. This individual will initially report to the Assistant Vice President, Development, Larry Lafferty.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, engage, and solicit corporations and foundations for the purpose of securing gifts for Ohio University and The Ohio University Foundation in excess of $100,000.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement ongoing major gift activities on behalf of the University in order to increase the number and size of corporate and foundation gifts.
  • Draft proposals to corporations and foundations seeking support for the University initiatives and programs.
  • Analyze corporate and foundation funding sources and match their interests with appropriate University programs and initiatives.
  • Recruit, coordinate and retain volunteers who support the corporate and foundation relations program.
  • Support donor relations with gift acknowledgement, stewardship, pledge fulfillment, and gift renewal for corporate and foundation gifts.
  • Plan and manage special events for corporate and foundation guests when appropriate.
  • Serve the academic colleges as chief strategist for corporation and foundation fundraising.
  • Coordinate all University charitable corporate and foundation activities.
  • Work with University leadership (executive staff, deans, directors, etc.) and leadership volunteers (Foundation Trustees, various college and unit advisory boards, etc.) on the role they play in fundraising activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission of Ohio University.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional fundraising experience.
  • Ability to build and manage a sophisticated Corporate and Foundation Relations department.
  • Experience that demonstrates a history of success in an advanced fundraising setting.
  • Ability to recognize and solve problems both inside and outside of the University relative to corporate and foundation relations.
  • Comfortable working in a team oriented/goal driven environment.
  • Ability to function independently, yet work in a centralized development structure.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
